Samsung Gear S2 Smartwatch And Gear VR Headset Launched In India

As expected Samsung has officially launched the much awaited Gear S2 smartwatch in India today at an event held in Gurgaon. The Gear S2 is priced at INR 24,300,  and Samsung also launched the Gear S2 Classic edition, priced at INR 25,800. It will be exclusively available on e-commerce retailer Flipkart and all the Samsung retail stores.

As for the specifications Samsung Gear S2 flaunts a 1.2 inch circular Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels and display density of 302 PPI. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core processor coupled with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage.

Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch sports a fresh new circular design and is based on Samsung’s own Tizen OS. The highlight feature of this watch is that users can select different dial faces based on Indian themes lending a more personalized look. This is the first smartwatch from Samsung that sports a circular design. Another marquee feature of Gear S2 is that the bezel on this smartwatch can be rotated enabling the wearer to access all the desired information in a more seamless manner.

Gear S2 comes with IP-68 certification which simply means that it is both dust and water resistant. It comes with a hoard of sensors which include  accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor , ambient light sensor and barometer sensor. This smartwatch supports wireless charging and packs a 250 mAh battery under its tiny frame which will keep it running for 2-3 days. 


Gear S2 supports all the android devices running at least Android 4.4 Kitkat and have a minimum of 1.5 GB RAM.

In addition to that Samsung has launched the consumer version of its Gear VR headset carrying a price tag of INR 8,200. Like Gear S2 this VR headset too will be available online exclusively from Chroma Retail and Reliance and other Samsung retail outlets across the country.

Samsung it aiming to improve the gaming and movie viewing experience of Indian masses by enabling the users to dock their smartphones inside the VR headset via Micro USB for a more realistic experience. As of now this VR headset is compatible with the flagship devices from Samsung which includes Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.

This VR headset comes equipped with three different modes which are Cinema, Multi-Screen and Home theater for scaling 2D and 3D content for IMAX like realistic experience. Also users can download and play up to 150 games on the VR headset from Oculus store.
