The HP Elite X3 features a 5.96-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the screen, you’ll find the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB RAM for smooth multitasking. On the storage side of things, it comes with 64GB of onboard storage, that can be expanded via a microSD card.

The primary camera on the HP Elite X3 is a 16-megapixel shooter whereas the secondary camera is a 8-megapixel shooter. Other than taking pictures, both these cameras are equipped with iris recognition, which allows them to be used for Windows Hello security feature.

The battery on the smartphone is a massive one. The phone houses a 4150mAh battery that will keep the phone powered all day for your business. The phone also supports Wireless charging, using both Qi and PMA standards. Also, since the phone has a USB Type-C port, it will be quicker to charge than the traditional port.

Other than the features that I’ve talked about for the phone, the Elite X3 also houses a fingerprint scanner for added security. This fingerprint sensor is located at the rear of the smartphone, and can be used to unlock the device with ease. Other than all this, the phone runs on the Windows 10 Mobile version that gives it great Windows productivity features.

HP Desk Dock

Along with the smartphone, the company also announced two accessories to go with it, the Desk Dock and the Mobile Extender. The Desk Dock is a dock that you can connect your Elite X3 smartphone to, and enjoy a full blown desktop experience, just like you could do with the Microsoft Display Dock. The Mobile Extender, the other accessory from the company, is a portable implementation of the Desk Dock. It is an empty laptop case that houses a display and a battery but relies on all the internals of the HP Elite X3 smartphone to power it.

Pricing and Availability

The pricing for the HP Elite X3 is still not known, but the company said that the phone will be priced competitively. The smartphone is a high-end phone and hence, the pricing would be something premium. As for the availability, HP says that it will be available soon, and we don’t know how soon yet!

Conclusion

The HP Elite X3 looks like a great device that offers great productivity options for business oriented people. The fact that you can use Windows 10’s Continuum on the smartphone is a really good add-on and selling point. It will compete with the Lumia 950 and the 950 XL definitely when it comes to productivity and specifications. Hoping to see this launched in India pretty soon as well.
