MWC 2016: HTC Unveils One X9 And Vive VR headset

HTC Vive VR headset and the One X9 were showcased by the Taiwanese company at the ongoing Mobile World Congress this year. HTC has announced the pricing of its first Virtual Reality headset, in addition to the availability details. However, details about the One X9 smartphone remain unclear.

The HTC Vive VR headset is the company’s main attraction at this year’s MWC. Announced in partnership with Valve, HTC has been working on its virtual reality system for a while now. The Vive VR headset will be available in select markets at a price of $799. HTC will start taking preorders for the Vive VR headset starting February 29th, even though the preorder process has not been detailed yet.

Featuring more than 70 sensors, the Vive VR headset is a room scale headset. Slightly bigger than other VR headsets, HTC and Valve have been working on this for more than an year now. It comes with an internal mic, Bluetooth allowing users to answer calls and reply to text messages. The Vive VR headset will support Android as well as iOS.

HTC One X9 at MWC 2016

You may be familiar with the One X9 already. It was announced in China back in December last year. The One X9 features a 5.5 inch Full HD display. You get a pixel density of ~401 PPI thanks to the 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The One X9 is powered by Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 processor, with eight cores and a PowerVR G6200 GPU.

The One X9 comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The phone supports microSD cards up to 200 GB. It also comes with a 13 MP main camera, Optical Image Stabilisation and dual LED flash. The phone supports 4K recording at 30 FPS with other features like HDR, Panorama also available. It sports a front facing 5 MP camera for selfies and video calling.

Running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the One X9 comes with the latest version of Sense UI on top. Dual SIM, Dolby Audio and 4G LTE support make it a really interesting option in the mid-range. It is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.
