Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus vs Samsung Galaxy J3 Comparison, Pros, Cons

Today, Samsung launched their all new Samsung Galaxy J3 in India and the device is aimed at the budget segment. I’ve compared the device with the Coolpad Note 3 Lite and now let me compare the device with the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus. Let’s see which device beats the other in this comparison.

Display & Processor

Both these smartphones feature a 5-inch display, but differ vastly in the type and the resolution. The display on the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is a Full HD Display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, whereas the Samsung Galaxy J3 features an HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display on the Samsung Galaxy J3 is a Super AMOLED display, which gives it much better colours and outdoor visibility.

In terms of the processor, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus features a much more powerful Snapdragon 616 processor, which is an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz whereas the Samsung Galaxy J3 is powered by a Quad Core Speardtrum SC7731 processor, clocked at 1.2GHz. The RAM on both these smartphones is also different. Vibe K5 Plus has 2GB of RAM, whereas the Samsung Galaxy J3 has 1.5GB of RAM.


User Interface & Operating System

The Samsung Galaxy J3 and the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, both come with Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box, but this version of Android is covered with the respective company’s custom user interface. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with the the Lenovo’s Vibe UI on the smartphone, whereas the Samsung Galaxy J3 comes with the Samsung TouchWiz UI.

Choosing an operating system is mainly a personal preference because someone might like the TouchWIZ UI and some might like the Vibe UI. They both offer similar functionalities at the core level as they both are based on the same Android version.

Camera & Storage

The story with the cameras on both these smartphones is different. The camera on the Samsung Galaxy J3 is an 8-megapixel shooter whereas the one on the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is a 13-megapixel shooter. However, the photo quality from the Samsung Galaxy J3 is better when compared to the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, based on my initial usage of both these devices.

In terms of storage, the Samsung Galaxy J3 comes with 8GB of internal storage whereas the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with 16GB of internal storage. Storage on both these phones can be expanded via a microSD card up to 32GB.

Battery

The battery on both these smartphones is comparable as the one on the Samsung Galaxy J3 is 2600mAh and the one on the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is 2750mAh. But the Samsung Galaxy J3 has an HD display, whereas the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus has a full HD display. It might be able to give slightly better battery, but I can’t say exactly at this point.

Pricing & Availability

The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is priced at 8,499 INR and is available exclusively on Flipkart in three different colours. The Samsung Galaxy J3 is priced at 8,990 INR and is available online and in Samsung stores.

Conclusion

Overall, if you want a slightly better camera, I’d ask you to go with the Samsung Galaxy J3 but if you want a better bang for your buck, I’d straightforward ask you to go with the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus because of the better internals that the device packs.
