Display & Processor

Both the Micromax Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro come with the same 5.5 inch IPS LCD display, with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. At this resolution, you get a pixel density of ~401 PPI. This is quite good and should give you a great experience, but there are concerns about the visibility under sunlight.

Likewise, both the phones also come with the same processor. Micromax has used Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 Tru Octa-core processor along with a PowerVR G6200 GPU. In most of the use cases, the processor should be powerful enough to give you a fast enough experience.

User Interface & Operating System

The Micromax Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro come with Android 5.1 Lollipop installed out of the box. There is no word from Micromax about an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, so we’ll have to wait for proper communication on that front.

Coming to the User Interface, Micromax has left it untouched for the most part. Instead, the company aims to enhance user experience with its small tweaks that add extra features to the OS. Additionally, Micromax bundles a bunch of apps to let users enjoy their phones right out of the box.

Camera & Storage

The Micromax Canvas 6 comes with a 13 MP f/2.0 camera on the back along with Phase Detection Autofocus and an LED flash. On the front, it houses an 8 MP camera. You get a standard 13 MP camera on the Canvas 6 Pro with Phase Detection Autofocus and an LED flash. It has a 5 MP camera on the front.

There are some important differences between the Canvas 6 and the Canvas 6 Pro in terms of the storage as well. The Canvas 6 comes with 32 GB internal storage and 3 GB RAM. It supports microSD cards up to 64 GB. The Canvas 6 Pro, on the other hand, comes with just 16 GB internal storage, but 4 GB RAM. You can expand the internal storage with a microSD card.

Battery

Both the phones – the Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro come with the same 3000 mAh non user-removable battery.

Pricing & Availability

The Canvas 6 is priced at Rs. 13,999 and will be available soon. The Canvas 6 Pro is already available for pre-booking at a price of Rs. 13,999. You can pay Rs. 1000 now to avoid the rush later.

Conclusion

Micromax wants to regain its lost customers – new players like Xiaomi and others have hurt Micromax’s marketshare. The Canvas 6 and 6 Pro seem to be a step in this direction, but is it enough? Only time will tell. However, on paper, both the phones still seem to offer nothing of any better value compared to phones like the Redmi Note 3. Micromax will have to do a lot better than this to regain the tech-savvy Indian customers.
