Facebook Will Allow Users To Download Video From July 11

The most popular social networking site, Facebook, was launched on February 4, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and his college roommates. Initially, the website’s membership was limited to the Harvard students, which expanded to most universities in Canada and the United States and gradually to everyone of age 13 and older by September 2006. Facebook came to India with 8 million users and grew to 15 million in the first 6 months itself.

As we all know that Facebook allows us to create our profile for social networking, add other users as friends, create common groups with them and see what’s going on in their life, exchange messages with them, post pictures, share videos, and to raise our opinion on various social issues. But until now, Facebook did not had any means for downloading the videos that are shared on it, like its close competitor Youtube does. Now, understanding the needs of the user, particularly Indian users, Facebook is going to add a new feature that will enable the users to download the videos that are shared on it.

A Facebook spokesperson said “We’ve heard feedback that in markets like India, mobile data and internet connectivity is limited and many people struggle with poor video experiences. So we’re testing an option for people to download videos to facebook while they’re online on good internet connections, to view the video at anytime, online or offline, without using extra mobile data

But this feature may be limited to the Facebook app only, like the Youtube offline feature. This means that you can access the saved video from the Facebook app only, the video will not be saved on the storage of your device. Moreover, it may also allow the publishers to opt out of the feature via their content distribution setting to prevent people from downloading their videos.
