After the Z series, Sony launched its X series flagship phones namely Sony Xperia X and XA Dual on 30th May 2016 in India. These phones were first unveiled by Sony at the Mobile World Congress 2016. In this article we will unbox the Xperia X and take a look at its design, Gaming Performance and Benchmark Scores.
Sony Xperia X is priced at Rs. 46,783 and it is available on Amazon India in four refreshing colors. The phone features a 5 inch Full HD Display, top notch camera setup, Android Marshmallow and Snapdragon 650 chipset among others.

The phone comes in a white colored rectangular shaped box with big Xperia logo on the center and a Sony branding at the bottom. The box also has a “X” watermark which signifies the X series.

Sony Xperia X Physical Overview
Xperia X has a premium looking Metallic finish Body with metal back and sides made up of poly-carbonate. It has a 5 inch display with 69.6% screen-to-body ratio. On the top it has a 2.5D curved glass which is scratch and oil resistant and has rounded edges, which makes it very fit perfectly in hand. At first, Xperia X may look familiar with some Xperia Z series phones but there are a lot of visible changes if you take a closer look. Its dimensions are 142.7 x 69.4 x 7.9 mm and it weighs 153 grams.
A 5 inch display with these dimensions is not very difficult to handle even with small hands, moreover one handed usage is also quite smooth. With a matte metallic finish, the phone offers a very premium and high-end look.
Let us take a look at the phone from different angles.

Display
Sony Xperia X has a 5.0 inches IPS LCD dfisplay with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD). The display comes with a pixel density of 441 ppi and color depth of 16M colors. The display comes with Triluminous technology and X Reality Engine. Triluminous technology provides brighter and sharper display without rough edges; it produces multi color images which are natural-looking as we see by our eyes. The X Reality Engine enhance 4K detail, color and contrast. It also comes with Scratch-resistant glass and oleophobic coating Protection. The Screen supports multitouch up to 10 fingers.
Camera Overview
The Sony Xperia X is equipped with an amazing 23 MP with LED Flash, 1/2.3″ sensor size, Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, 24 mm wide-angle G lens and a 5x image zoom. The camera features geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama among others. It also supports video recording at 1080p@30fps and 1080p@60fps. On the Front it is equipped with a 13 MP shooter with 1/3″ sensor size, f/2.0 aperture and 22mm wide angle lens. It also supports Full HD video recording.
Gaming Performance
Sony Xperia X is equipped with a Hexa core processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset and Adreno 510 GPU coupled with 3 GB RAM. With all this under the hood, Xperia X performed brilliantly while Gaming. The frames were smooth, and I didn’t face a single glitch while gaming during my initial tests. Although we’ll continue testing this device and put some more load on the processor to find out how does it perform on the longer run.

Conclusion
Sony Xperia X has display that you’ll love, Improved UI on top of Marshmallow, Snapdragon 650, 3 GB RAM, 256 GB expandable storage, an impressive camera and a handy design. Overall, Sony Xperia X is a very good phone but in the end, the price falls slightly above the expected cost but still, you can consider if you prefer quality over quantity.
