Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Launched At Apple Keynote 2016 Event

Apple finally unveiled the most awaited smartphones of 2016 today at Apple Keynote 2016 event. Yes, the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus are announced, and this time with some major upgrades in design, camera and a lot more. As rumored Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus ditched the 3.5mm audio jack and antennae lines.

The new Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have 5 different color options to choose from. Both of them will be available in Gold, Silver, Black, Rose Gold and Jet Black. Black and Jet Black are the latest addition to the existing color options. Jet Black comes packed in a Glass Aluminum uni-body, which looks amazingly glossy and Premium. To buy the Jet Black variant, you will have to pay some more cash as of the other variants.

Apple iPhone 7 and iPhones 7 Plus are the first iPhones to have IP67 certification that adds Water and Dust Resistance. Both the iPhones have Retina HD display with Wide Color Gamut and 25% more brightness compared to iPhone 6s. The display sizes for both the phones remain the same at 4.7 inches for iPhone 7 and 5.5 inches for iPhone 7 Plus.

Under the hood, both the phones boast of a new generation Apple A 10 Fusion chip with 64 Bit Quad-Core, 33 billion transmitters. Among the 4 Cores, 2 Cores are High performance and 2 of them are high efficiency which saves up to 1/5th of the power compared to high performance cores. This time the GPU M10 is also upgraded with 6 Cores and is up to 50% faster than the one on Apple A9 Chip.


On the camera front, iPhone 7 comes with 12MP rear camera with OIS, 6 element lens, F1.8 Aperture, wide-angle, hybrid IR sensor and Quad LED true tone flash. On the front it has a 7MP Facetime HD camera with f/2.2 aperture. The new camera setup is 60% faster, 30% more energy efficient, and has wide angle lens. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera setup with the same camera as iPhone 7 with another 12MP 56mm telephoto lens with F/2.8 aperture baked next to it.

Some more upgrades include a Dual Stereo speaker setup, an all new force sensitive Home button with Tactic engine. Apple also promises a better battery performance with additional 2 hours of battery backup compares to iPhone 6s. Apple will now include all new Earpods with lightening cable in place of 3.5mm audio jack, and Apple calls it the Digital Audio Power Control (DAPC). For those who aren’t happy, Apple is including a 3.5mm jack to lightening adapter in the box.

Users can also opt for the all new Airpods, the new wireless headset from the company. It comes with 5 Hours of battery backup, and a special case that carries up to 24 hours of charge and also charges the Airpods when kept inside. To connect it to your iPhone, you just have to open the lid and that’s it. Frankly speaking, I really can’t resist try my hands on these tempting devices.

Price and Availability

The new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will launch in India on October 7 with price starting Rs. 60,000. Prices for the rest of models are still not disclosed.

In US, iPhone 7 starts at $649 for the 32GB variant and the iPhone 7 Plus will cost $769 for the base model. Both the phones will be available in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variants, but the Jet Black variant will be coming with just 2 storage options including 128GB and 256GB.

Pre-orders start on September 7 and shipping starts from September 16. iOS 10 will be rolled out on September 13.

Apple Airpods will cost $159 in US. More info about Indian prices will be updated soon.
