Vivo V5 With 20 MP Selfie Camera Launched In India

Vivo launched a new smartphone Vivo V5 at an event held in India today. The company continues to focus on the selfie craze and the Vivo V5 aim to capitalize on it. Vivo termed the event as “Selfie Evolution”.

The smartphone is selfie centric devices and sport a 20 MP selfie camera for amazing selfies and Vivo calls it Moonlight Camera. The new Vivo V5 will be the successor of the Vivo V3 which was launched earlier this year in April. The Vivo V5 will be available in Crown Gold and Space Grey colour options.

The device sports a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved display and protected by Gorilla Glass 3. At 1280 x 720 pixels, you get a pixel density of ~267 PPI.

The V5 runs on an Octa-core Mediatek MT6750 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and coupled with Mali T860 GPU. It comes with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128 GB. Camera optics include a 13 MP rear camera and a 20 MP selfie camera with Moonlight flash. The Moonlight flash reduces strain on your eyes.

Speaking at the launch of the device, Mr. Kent Cheng, CEO, Vivo India, said, “With the launch of V5, Vivo adds a new dimension and sets its focus on emerging camera technology, thus offering an unprecedented camera experience. V5 comes with the first-ever 20 MP front camera that creates flawless pictures in naturally vivid colours. We are sure that our new offering is all set to create a new benchmark and will be widely accepted by customers and redefine the selfie experience.”

The V5 comes in a premium unibody Metal design. It sports a Fingerprint scanner which also doubles up as home button. It runs on Vivo’s FunTouch OS 2.6 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, USB OTG. It is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.

Sensors include Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Magnetic, Gyroscope, Proximity and E-compass sensor. It also features a Hi-Fi audio chip for enhanced audio experience. It is slim at 7.5mm of thickness and weighs 154 grams. 

 Pricing And Availability

The Vivo V5 has been priced at Rs. 17,980 and will be available from November 26 onwards across all major offline retail stores across the country. It will be available in Crown Gold and Space Grey colour options.
