Instagram Live Streaming Now Available In Stories

Known for allowing people to share photos with their social circle, Instagram has now come up with a twist. In order to become a one-stop place to provide all the social buzz, Instagram has released two major updates. One is live video on Stories, and the other is to direct-message friends ephemeral video. The new feature will not only improve the engagement on the app but, will also help in taking a lead from the key competitor, Snapchat.

The particular feature is introduced to keep in-line with the company’s parent company, Facebook, which has been emphasizing live video since last year. But, there is a catch here, unlike Facebook, the users cannot watch the live video after it is over. It means you can only view the video on the real time basis and not after that. To boost the feature in an effective manner, the team of Instagram is also working on an algorithmically curate Explore page that will list best Instagram Live videos happening anytime.

Focusing on the direct message video, it will work the same way, as it works in Snapchat. It will also allow a video message to be viewed twice before it gets disappeared. According to Gabe Madway, a spokesman for Instagram, the videos that are live are unedited and stays in the moment, and it is the best way to share the real-time happenings and connect with people.

Both the features introduced by Instagram are quite similar to the ones already on the Snapchat but, with the difference of going live might create the real difference between the two social networking platforms.  Copying features from one platform to another makes the competition more precise. Both Facebook and Instagram are working on one simple motive, to improve the videos engagement and how to offer a platform which pushes users to share more.

Let’s see how the recently introduced features improve the user interaction on Instagram and what new things come up next.
