In IFA 2016, Lenovo announced a laptop-cum-tablet named Lenovo Yoga Book in two versions: Android and Windows 10. After three months, Android version landed in Indian market for a price of Rs. 49.990, and it is being exclusively sold on Flipkart.
Lenovo Yoga Book Specifications
It sports a 10.1-inch Full HD Capacitive IPS Touch Display with a physical Halo keyboard. It is powered by a Intel Atom x5-Z8550 Processor (2M Cache, Quad-Core, Up to 2.4 GHz) coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
In the camera department, it has 2MP Fixed-Focus Front Camera and 8MP Auto-Focus Rear Camera. Regarding the physical ports, it has USB Type-C charging port, HDMI port, 3.5mm Jack, and microSD port.
In terms of connectivity, it can accommodate a nano SIM card that supports LTE, a WIFI IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac card, and Bluetooth 4.0. It has a 8500 mAh Li-ion Polymer Battery that can reportedly last for 15 hours with normal usage.
What So Special About It?
If you just go by the specifications, you may find the price tag ludicrous. But there is something Lenovo has contrived with Lenovo Yoga book that should mystify you: it is a physical Halo keyboard.
The way screen connects to a pad using a signature watchband hinge design is stunning. The pad comes with a on-demand digital Halo keyboard with haptic feedback and typing on it is altogether a different experience. It may not be as sophisticated as a physical board; nevertheless, it gets the job done without occupying any physical space. Once you are done with the keyboard, you can just turn it off and it just disappears in a split second.
Also, it comes with a real-pen that helps you to sketch instantly on the pad. In addition to that, you can replace the stylus in the pen with a ink cartridge and start writing notes on the included book that promptly reflects on the screen. Isn’t that cool?
Final Thoughts
Lenovo claims this device is a future of computing. Though implementation of digital keypad and real-pen is outstanding, it fells short in other areas like raw CPU power, battery life, no USB ports and extravagant price tag. Keeping in view of these drawbacks, we are eager to see what unfolds in the next iteration of this series. However, you can definitely give it a shot if you are looking for a small size laptop that can get your daily job done.
