Despite the fact that Vivo is claiming the V5 Plus to be the first smartphone in the world to sport a dual selfie camera, it is actually not. Way back in September 2015, Lenovo showed us the Vibe S1. Its front camera consists of an 8 MP unit and a 2 MP snapper, placed side by side. The Vibe S1 uses the former to boost up the resolution and the latter for measuring the depth of field.

Another smartphone, the LG V10 also comes with a dual camera setup in the front. Here, it is used to ramp up the capturing angle. On the top of shooting the standard 80-degree pictures, the V10 can shoot 120-degree images. With the upcoming Vivo V5 Plus, the usage of dual camera arrangement for the front camera may gradually become a norm. With the entry of smartphones like Coolpad Cool 1 and Huawei Honor 6X, dual lens setup is already a common thing for primary cameras.
