After the launch of XOLO Era 1X last September, XOLO has launched its successor XOLO Era 2X today.

The smartphone is powered by MediaTek MT6737 and has Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS. It has a 5 inch HD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280p and comes with 3 GB RAM. Let’s unbox it and take a detailed review on the device and its contents.

The phone comes in a simple white box with its branding at the front and specifications at the back. Price and other information along with SAR value is written at the top middle part of the box body.

Box Contents

  • Handset
  • 2 Pin Charger
  • USB Type C Cable
  • Headphones
  • Warranty Card

Physical Overview

XOLO Era 2X has plastic body all over. Phone is easy to fit in hands and its matt finish at the back makes it even comfortable to hold and skips the slipping part. Although the plastic quality is up to that mark and doesn’t look that solid. Phone is average in size which really makes it usable with one hand. Along with camera and flash, back of the phone has an addition of finger print sensor.

Let’s take a look at the phone from all possible angles.

Starting from the front, it has a 5 inch HD IPS display.

At the top front you can see an earpiece, front camera and ambient light sensor.

Again at the top middle part of the body, it has 3.5 mm jack.

At bottom of the front, it has 3 on screen navigation keys.

At the bottom middle part of the body, it has charging port.

On the right side of the phone, it has volume rocker and power button.

Turning the phone around, it has circular shaped camera, flash and fingerprint sensor at the top along with XOLO logo just below the above three.

At the bottom, we can see the speaker grill.

By opening the back panel, we see 2 micro SIM slots and a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

With IPS HD 5 inch display and a resolution of 720 x 1280p, colors are quite okay on XOLO Era 2X. You can scroll down to the camera overview for more information on color handling on the device.

Camera Overview

XOLO Era 2X has a primary camera of 8 MP and 5 MP secondary. We took a lot of shots using both cameras in all the light conditions. Talking about the rear one, outdoor photos turned out to be well balanced.

xolo-era-2x-11 Pictures taken in flow of the day light were well color balanced. Photos taken against the flow of daylight turned out to be bit low on lights and colors, which was below what was expected. Talking about the artificial light images, camera was unstable and needed a full resting hand to click a clear picture. We experienced heavy lagging while using the camera in artificial lights. Plus, picture had a lot of noise in them.  Low light images were as average as the other phones of this segment.

Gaming overview

We played Modern Combat 5 and we experienced quite a low quality on the basis of graphics. Frame drops were visible wherever there was heavy action on the screen and battery dropped unexpectedly by 8% in 10 minutes. Although, you will get better performance in terms of medium paced graphic games like Dead Trigger 2. However, you will find some lagging here as well, but the overall experience might turn out to better than what it is on Modern Combat 5.

XOLO Era 2X is a good phone if we compare it with the other phones in this segment. There are lot things that you can keep in mind as good factors, which includes a good build quality, easy to handle; easy user interface, fingerprint sensor, dedicated memory card slot and much more (consult the specification part above). You can buy this phone to have a decent performance. If you can take your budget a little higher then you can also go for Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime.
