Vivo V5 Plus IPL Limited Edition Launched – Is It Worth It?

Vivo has launched a limited edition variant of the Vivo V5 Plus to celebrate the tenth edition of the IPL. The Vivo V5 Plus IPL Limited Edition comes with the same features as the Vivo V5 Plus. It was launched at an event held in Hyderabad. The first match of the IPL 2017, the tenth edition of the IPL will be played in Hyderabad today.

Vivo V5 Plus Specifications

The Vivo V5 Plus comes with a 5.5 inch full HD in-cell IPS LCD display, resulting in a pixel density of ~401 PPI. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the latest version of toughened glass. The phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Funtouch OS 3.0 on top.

Vivo V5 Plus IPL

Powering the V5 Plus is a 2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. The phone houses 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM on board.

Coming to the most intriguing part, imaging – the V5 Plus comes with a 16MP rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture and a LED flash. The rear camera also comes with Phase Detection Autofocus.

On the front, you get a dual camera setup. It is only next to LG V10 to feature a dual camera setup on the front. The primary 20MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 5P Largan lens. It is assisted by an 8MP camera next to it, which captures the depth of field details. The two front cameras are supported by a Moonlight LED flash.

Other features include a fingerprint sensor and an AK4376 audio chip for an enhanced sound experience. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. The V5 Plus is powered by a 3160 mAh battery and comes with fast charging support.

Pricing and Availability

The Vivo V5 Plus IPL Limited Edition has been priced at Rs. 27,980, the same price as the V5 Plus. The device will available starting from April 10 from Flipkart and retail stores across the country.


The Vivo V5 Plus delivers everything in terms of build, design and camera. The 20+8 MP dual front camera setup is definitely the best feature on the phone. The power management, although decent, is not satisfactory. Snapdragon 625 is one of the more power efficient processors out there. The Vivo V5 Plus IPL Limited Edition is not only for just IPL fans, the Matte Black color looks really good.
