Physical Overview

The Smartron srt.phone comes in a unique box back. The outer box has a photograph of Sachin Tendulkar at the back. A message from the master blaster is found written inside the outer flap of the package. Inside the retail package, there is a fast charging enabled charger, USB to micro USB cable and the handset itself. Unfortunately, no headphones are there.

Coming to the device, the phone sports a decent built quality. At the front, there is the 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display.

Above the screen, lies the earpiece, front camera, and the sensors.

Three capacitive buttons are placed just below the display.

Moving on to the back, the primary camera, LED flash and the secondary microphone sits at the top. Slightly lower, there is a circular fingerprint scanner.

The Smartron srt.phone branding along with a ‘Designed and Engineered in India’ tag are present at the rear bottom.

The 3.5 mm audio jack and the power button lies at the top. There is also an additional noise canceling microphone.

Going to the bottom, we can see a Type-C USB port along with the primary microphone and loudspeakers.

Display

Quality-wise, the 5.5-inch full HD IPS panel of the srt.phone is quite good. Viewing angle and color reproduction are decent enough. The screen is perfectly usable in broad daylight. Coming to protection, Smartron has opted for the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Camera

The 13 MP rear camera of the Smartron srt.phone can shoot decent images. Featuring a f/2.0 aperture along with a BIS (Back Side Illuminated Sensor), primary shooter performs well in daylight condition. However, the camera fails to impress us in low light photography.

Hardware, Software, and Performance

As mentioned above, the Smartron srt.phone is powered by the mighty Snapdragon 652 SoC. The 64-bit octa-core comes with four Cortex A72 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz each along with four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz each. This is mated with 4 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of inbuilt storage.

Coming to the software, Android 7.0 Nougat runs on the srt.phone. The user interface is mostly stock. Performance is blazing fast and the smartphone breezes through the day to day usage. Gaming experience is pretty good too.

Conclusion

With Sachin Tendulkar himself promoting the Smartron srt.phone, we expect the phone to be long lasting. Overall, our first impression of the phone is mostly positive, barring the not-so-great camera. However, at a price of Rs. 12,999, there are few handsets that can beat the srt.phone.

Pricing and Availability

The Smartron srt is exclusively available from Flipkart. It has been priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 32 GB storage variant and Rs. 13,999 for the 64 GB storage variant. The device is available in Titanium Gray color only.
