Motorola Moto Z2 Play Gets Certified By TENAA, Specs Unveiled

Motorola Moto Z2 Play has just been registered at TENAA, China’s telecommunication authority. This has spilled out all the specifications of the upcoming smartphone. The successor of the Moto Z Play is set to some with a 5.5 inch AMOLED display and sport an impressive thickness of 5.99 mm. Lenovo may launch the Moto Z2 Play within a couple of months.

The Moto Z2 Play is going to be a premium looking handset and an extremely thin one too. It will come with a 5.5 inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) AMOLED display. The Moto Z Play successor is expected to feature a redesigned home button-cum-fingerprint scanner. However, the Moto Z2 Play’s overall design language will be more or less similar to its predecessor.

Speaking of the internal hardware, the upcoming phone seems to sport a Qualcomm SoC running at 2.2 GHz. Previous rumors had predicted this to be the Snapdragon 626. However, Lenovo may upgrade it to the latest Snapdragon 630. Memory-wise, the Moto Z2 Play will rock 4 GB of RAM along with 64 GB of inbuilt storage. A micro SD card slot will be there too.

Motorola’s upcoming smartphone is expected to run Android 7.1.1 out of the box. Needless to say, it will also get the Android O update.


Coming to the optics, a 12 MP camera with dual autofocus will sit at the back of the Moto Z2 Play. This will reportedly feature the Sony IMX 362 sensor with f/1.7 aperture size. A standard 5 MP selfie shooter will be there too. Both the rear and the front camera’s will be assisted with dedicated LED flashes.

Now, let’s talk about connectivity. The Moto Z2 Play will support 4G LTE along with VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, NFC, Type-C charging port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. A 3000mAh (typical) / 2820mAh (minimum) battery will power up the upcoming smartphone.

Talking about the release date, Lenovo is expected to unveil the Moto Z2 Play within the next two to three months. The Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force will also arrive at the same time.
