Xiaomi Sells 2,50,000 Units Of Redmi 4 On Its First Sale

Xiaomi had the first sale of its latest budget smartphone, the Redmi 4 today. The 2 GB and 3 GB RAM variants of the device were on sale today on Amazon India and Mi.com/in. The Redmi 4 also has a 4 GB RAM variant but this variant did not go on sale today.

Xiaomi has announced that the Redmi 4 sales of Amazon and mi.com combined have crossed 2,50,000 units in just eight minutes. As per the company, this is the third Xiaomi device to cross the 2,50,000 number in one day.

Before Redmi 4, the Redmi Note 4 sold more than 2,50,000 units on January 23, followed by Redmi 4A on March 23. Now, the Redmi 4 crossed the 2,50,000 mark on May 23. The pattern indicates that the date 23 may be lucky for Xiaomi and we may see more devices launching on this day from the company.

Redmi 4 Specifications

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 skinned on top. The device will also come with a special Android 7.0 Nougat preview. Users will be able to switch between these two versions.


The device will come with a 5 inch HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display will come with a pixel density of ~294 PPI. The device comes with a 2.5D curved glass on the front.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 is powered by an Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor clubbed with Adreno 505 GPU. The device will be available in 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants. The devices will come with 16 GB , 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage respectively. The storage on the device can be further expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card.

Coming to the camera department, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a 13 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus and dual LED flash. The camera comes with features such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, smile detection, HDR and panorama. On the front, the device sports a 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes with a 4,100 mAh battery with Fast battery charging. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Infrared Port, NFC, microUSB 2.0 and FM Radio. The device comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back.
