Moto Z2 Play Launched With Moto Mods Support, New Moto Mods Explained

Motorola today launched its much anticipated Moto Z2 Play. It is the successor of the Moto Z Play and like its predecessor, comes with Moto Mods support. The device comes with two new moto mods, the Gamepad and  TurboPower Pack. The device has been priced at $499(Rs. 32,200 Approx) and will be available in Lunar Gray, Nimbus Blue and Fine Gold colour options.

Moto Z2 Play Specifications

The Motorola Moto Z2 Play runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The device features a 5.5 inch full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device comes with a pixel density of ~401 PPI. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Motorola Moto Z2 Play runs on an Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor with eight cores clocked at 2.2 GHz, clubbed with Adreno 506 GPU. The device will be available in two variants.

The first variant comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage while the second variant comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Apart from this, the storage on the device can be further expanded up to 2 TB via microSD card.


Coming to the camera department, the Motorola Moto Z2 Play features a 12 MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, phase detection and laser autofocus and dual LED flash. The camera comes with features such as geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and Auto-HDR. On the front, the device sports a 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture and a color correlated temperature (CCT) dual-LED flash.

The Moto Z2 Play is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery, which is a substantial downgrade from the 3,510 mAh battery of the Moto Z Play. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C 3.1 and FM Radio. The device comes with a finger print sensor integrated in the home button.

Just like its predecessor, the Moto Z2 Play also supports Moto Mods. It will support all the Moto Mods that were launched with the Moto Z Play and also comes with new Moto Mods. Here are the new Moto Mods.

The Moto GamePad comes with control sticks, a D-pad, and four buttons. It comes with 1,035 mAh battery that can power it for up to 8 hours. As it comes with its own battery, it won’t eat you device’s battery. The GamePad has been priced at $79.99.

The Moto TurboPower Pack adds 3,490 mAh battery to the device and comes with fast charge support. It supports up to 30W TurboPower. The company claims that you can charge it up to 50% in just 20 minutes. It weighs 95 grams and has been priced at $79.99.
