OnePlus 2 Will Not Get Android Nougat Upgrade, Support Discontinued

OnePlus has now confirmed that the company is discontinuing the software support for the OnePlus 2, which means that the device will stay on Android Marshmallow and will not get the Android Nougat upgrade.

This will come as a disappointment to the users of the 2015 flagship who have been waiting for the upgrade from Marshmallow to Nougat. This news was revealed after a user asked the OnePlus customer care regarding the upgrade.

This is their official response –

“Thank you for reaching OnePlus Customer support. This is Alex from OnePlus. We greatly appreciate your time and effort in reaching out to us. Your concern is of utmost importance, and I will be helping you out with your ticket. As much as we would like to give the latest update on the OnePlus 2, we’ve discontinued updates for dated devices. But we will continue to support the limited warranty for current users and provide updates and support the best way we can even for OnePlus 2 users,”.

This came as a surprise to OnePlus 2 users as the company had earlier confirmed that the device would definitely get Android Nougat upgrade.

While OnePlus not revealed anything regarding the OnePlus X, it can be assume that even this device will not receive the Android Nougat upgrade.

Coming to the newer devices, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive the Android O upgrade soon after it is announced.
