Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) Update Brings Samsung Pay Mini Support

Samsung has started rolling out a new update to its Galaxy J7 (2016) smartphone in India. The key feature in the update is the added support for Samsung Pay Mini, a lighter version of the company’s mobile payments service Samsung Pay.

Samsung has already introduced Samsung Pay Mini on the Galaxy J7 Max last month. The company also launched Galaxy On Max featuring Pay Mini earlier this month.  Samsung Pay Mini supports UPI payments and PayTM transactions through the phone. However, it does not allow NFC or MST-based transactions.

The latest update also brings bug fixes and stability improvements as well as the June 2017 security patch to the 2016 launched smartphone.

What is Samsung Pay Mini?

Samsung Pay Mini is a stripped-down version of Samsung Pay. This mobile payment service is for mid-range Samsung phones that do not have fingerprint sensors for authentication.

Samsung Pay Mini allows users to transfer money using Paytm Wallet just by scanning the code or sending it using the mobile number. Users can also send money to a bank account using UPI (Unified Payment Interface). Samsung Pay Mini app also has several promotional offers like cash back on doing payments or any transaction.

The update for the Galaxy J7 (2016) carries firmware version J710FXXU3AQF6 and available in a file size of 136.32MB. It can be downloaded by visiting the Software Update section in the Settings menu of the phone.
