New Telegram Update Brings Disappearing Media, Bio Support And More

Popular instant messaging app Telegram has rolled out a new update for Android and iOS users. The latest update includes a self-destruction media feature, where photos and videos can be set to disappear after a certain time.

When you set a timer for a sent media, the countdown starts the moment the recipient opens the photo or video you sent. After the time runs out, the photo/video disappears forever. Also, if someone tries to take the screenshot, you will get a notification. This is akin to Snapchat.

Apart from this, the latest app has brought redesigned photo editing tool, adding a bio option and enlarged scrolling area while using stickers. The update comes with the latest version of app 4.2 and is available for download.

Disappearing Media

You can now set a self-destruct timer for any photos or videos you share in private chats. The time is between 1 second and 1 minute. After the set time is over, the sent media will be disappeared from both sender’s and receiver’s chat box.


The disappearing message has become a trend for messaging apps these days. Earlier, the popular messenger WhatsApp was also reported to release the recall message feature that was first introduced by Snapchat.

Improved Photo Editing Tool

They have also redesigned the photo editing tools integrated into the chat window. Now, it takes you even fewer taps to make your photos look amazing. You can adjust exposure, enhancement, and contrast as per the photo by simply tapping it once.

Add a Bio to your Profile

Now, users can also add a bio to their profile by writing a few words about themselves in Settings. This will help users in large group chats and people may know who other users are.

With the latest update, the app will rely on a distributed network to cache publicly available photos and videos posted in massive channels of the app. This will result in significantly higher download speeds for millions of Telegram users around the world.

Enlarge Scrolling Area

Now, users can use stickers easily by enlarging the scrolling area. While choosing a sticker, you need to tap the “up” button in the sticker panel to expand it to full screen.

Apart from this, you can send media and files, irrespective of their type. You can share all the file types on this app, a feature that WhatsApp recently introduced for itself.
