Flipkart Gifting First Few Mobile Phone Customers New Smartphones

On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart conducted Big 10 sale in May 2017. The company hasn’t done with the celebrations yet, as it is now honoring some of its early mobile phone buyers by gifting them new smartphones.

Flipkart executives from the mobile department will meet the selected customers in person to hand over a new smartphone. The team will travel across the country to meet the customers in cities like Agartala, Ajmer, Allahabad, Bellary, Sambalpur, Trichy, Ujjain, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.

Ayyappan R, Head of Mobile Phones department at Flipkart, said,

“With this initiative, we want to thank our early customers for having faith and helping to bring us to this point. Flipkart has shaped the industry in India by pioneering the exclusive launch concept. Coupled with innovations like Product Exchange, No Cost EMI and Buyback Guarantee, Flipkart has driven the adoption of smartphones in India. We’re also working on other innovations that will make the experience of owning a smartphone even easier for our customers.”

Flipkart started its operations in the country by selling books; over the span of a decade, it has been adding different product categories to its portfolio. Of all the product categories, mobile phones division has been its forte. The exclusive tie up with Motorola changed the face of the company.

However, the partnership with Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi actually turned around its fortunes. Though it faced flack due to website glitches during the first few Xiaomi Mi3 flash sales, the sale itself has brought unprecedented craze to Flipkart.

Since then, Flipkart has been building a platform to ease the purchase of the smartphones. As stated by Ayyappan R, No cost EMI, buyback guarantee, old smartphone exchange concept, and exclusive launches have made Flipkart a preferred destination for smartphone buyers.
