Nokia 5 Goes On Sale In India From August 15 At Rs. 12,499

HMD Global has announced that the Nokia 5 will be available for sale starting from August 15. The phone with 5.2-inch display, running on Android 7.1.1 is priced at Rs. 12,499 and it will be available through offline stores only.

The company had introduced its first line-up of Android smartphones – Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, back in June. The Nokia 3 was the first phone in the series to go on sale in India for Rs. 9499 just after the release.

At the launch, HMD Global stated that the other phones will be available in July-August. Later it was confirmed the phones will not be available before the mid-August. Nokia 6 will be the last to come in market, that is going on sale from August 23rd exclusively on Amazon. To be noted, the Nokia 6 recently got 1 million registrations on Amazon India since July 14.

Nokia 5 Price and Launch offers

The Nokia 5 was launched for Rs. 12,899. But now, it will be available at the best buy price of Rs. 12,499. Moreover, the phone comes with certain launch offers.


Vodafone users, who buy Nokia 5 will get 5GB data per month only for 3 months at Rs. 149 monthly charges. Apart from this, online tour operator Makemytrip.com is offering Rs. 2500 discount on the next trip (Rs. 1800 on hotels & Rs.700 off on domestic flights) for Nokia 5 buyers.

Coming to the specs of Nokia 5, it sports a 5.2-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) 2.5D curved display. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. The Dual SIM phone runs the latest Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) OS.

The phone is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. It is coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. The device is packed with 2GBGB RAM and 16GB internal memory, which is expandable up to 128GB with microSD.

In the camera department, the phone sports a 13MP autofocus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED Flash. On the front, there is an 8MP autofocus camera with f/2.0 aperture, and 84-degree wide-angle lens for better selfies.

Nokia 5 gets power from a 3000mAh battery. Connectivity options include support for 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS.

Nokia 5 comes in Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper colors. It will be available across major offline retail stores in India for Rs. 12,499.
