BSNL Launches Mobile Wallet For Subscribers In Partnership With MobiKwik

State run telco BSNL recently launched a Mobile Wallet Application in partnership with MobiKwik. The dedicated mobile wallet is aimed at easy bill payments and ecommerce shopping for BSNL subscribers.

With this partnered wallet, BSNL subscribers will be able to use it across over 1.5 million merchant points across the country. According to a statement by BSNL, the wallet is aimed to bring Digital Payment facilities to rural, and semi-urban areas.

What is a Mobile Wallet?

A mobile wallet is an application that lets you make payments using your credit/debit cards or directly by storing digital money in your smartphone. While some Mobile Wallets allow storing credit/debit cards, other let you store money in for of digital currency, usable at partner merchants.

Some of the prominent mobile wallets are Android Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, PayTm, and MobiKwik. BSNL’s mobile wallet for its subscribers is created in partnership with MobiKwik.

BSNL’s wallet, designed in partnership with MobiKwik is aimed at introducing Digital payment in semi-urban and rural areas. With this aim, the wallet is usable at across 1.5 million merchants across the country.

The main usage of this wallet will be one-tap payment of their BSNL bill and recharge. It will also allow you to make bus and train ticket reservations along with e-commerce shopping.

“Through this strategic partnership between BSNL and MobiKwik, we are taking another important milestone in achieving PM Modi’s vision of enabling and making India a less-cash society based on his grand vision of digital India.”

“BSNL wallet will enable masses in paying bills, recharging their phone connections and paying for their daily purchases, within seconds,” commented Bipin Preet Singh, Founder, and CEO, MobiKwik.

Conclusion

With their new wallet, BSNL is offering a dedicated platform to their customers. It is a good approach and since BSNL is planning upon India’s first MVNO, Aerovoyce, which may get a place in this dedicated wallet service in future.
