Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Launched With 16MP Front Camera, Android Nougat

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has just unveiled a budget smartphone named Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, the successor of Redmi 4A, in China. The 16MP selfie camera on the high-end variant and MIUI 9 are the notable features of this smartphone.

It comes in three variants: 2GB RAM/ 16GB ROM, 3GB RAM/32GB ROM, and 4GB RAM/ 64GB ROM. The device will be available in Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum Silver color options.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A comes with a 5.5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) IPS LCD panel protected by a Corning Gorilla glass on top. The device comes in two processor variants.

The standard variant comes with a Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be further expanded. The high-end version of the device comes with a Snapdragon 435 processor and will be available in 3GB RAM / 32GB storage and 4GB RAM / 64GB storage variants.

It is worth noting that all the models of Redmi Note 5A come with a dedicated slot for microSD card. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with company’s custom software MIUI 9 on the top.

Coming to the camera department, the Redmi Note 5A features a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, PDAf and LED flash. While the standard variant comes with a 5MP secondary camera, the high-end variant comes with a 16MP secondary camera with an OmniVision sensor, f/2.0 aperture, a 76.4-degree wide-angle lens and an LED flash.

A non-removable 3080 mAh battery fuels this device. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2, MicroUSB v2.0, etc. The fingerprint sensor is present only on the 4GB RAM variant of Redmi 5A.
