JioPhone specifications revealed – WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, 2000mAh battery

With the bookings for the JioPhone having started on August 24, Reliance Jio has also revealed the full specifications of the feature phone that comes with 4G VoLTE capabilities. The effectively free phone can be booked from Jio’s website, MyJio app or offline retail stores.

Reliance Jio will start delivering the phones on a first-come first-serve basis, beginning in September. So, if you are planning to book the phone, let’s first take a look at its full specifications in detail here.

JioPhone Specifications

The JioPhone is basically a feature phone but it comes with support for 4G VoLTE. JioPhone features a 2.4-inch QVGA (240×320 pixels) display. The phone supports single SIM.

Jio Phone

It is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Spreadtrum 9820A processor with Mali-400 GPU. There are reports that another version with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 processor will be available in the coming weeks. The phone packs 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

The JioPhone sports a 2-megapixel rear camera along with a VGA camera on the front, so you can make video calls as well. Powering the phone is a 2,000mAh battery that is supposed to offer up to 12 hours of talk time and up to 15 days of standby time.

Connectivity options on the phone include the 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1, NFC, FM Radio, GPS, and USB 2.0. Notably, with the NFC capabilities, JioPhone is capable of making UPI payments without the need of a physical credit or debit card.

JioPhone Features

Another notable feature of the JioPhone is its voice-based Assistant. Named JioAssistant, it enables you to compose a message, search on Google, play video, or dial a number, etc. using voice commands.  The voice assistant works in both Hindi and English languages.

The feature phone further comes preloaded with Jio apps like JioCinema, JioTV, JioMusic, and JioXpressNews. These apps are preinstalled on the JioPhone along with instant messaging and social networking apps like Facebook.

Moreover, the phone includes Microsoft Exchange for email, along with support for importing the contacts via Gmail. Additionally, the JioPhone includes LED flashlight and SOS button for the emergency. Interestingly, JioPhone can be connected to a TV using the JioMediaCable for streaming video from the phone to the larger TV screen.

JioPhone bookings have been started on August 24 via the MyJio app, official Jio website, and authorized Reliance Jio offline retailers. You should pre-book the JioPhone at the earliest to get it as soon as it hits the market.
