Honor 8 Pro design review: elegant and sleek

When buying a smartphone, the first thing users observe is the look and feel of the device. Huawei sub-brand Honor has tapped the design potential yet again, with the Honor 8 Pro.

Honor 8 Pro is the latest flagship device from Honor. The smartphone features a full metal build, 5.7-inch QHD display, Dual camera setup and Kirin 960 processor with 6GB RAM. The phone comes with 128GB of internal storage.

The Honor 8 Pro is not just a great looking device. The phone is also capable of giving head-on competition to the likes of the OnePlus 5 and the HTC U11.

Build and Design

Since we’re talking about aesthetics, let’s talk about the design first. When you hold the Honor 8 Pro, you can experience the smoothness and consistency of its design. The Honor 8 Pro comes with a full metal body, and only 6.97 mm thickness. The Matte-finish Blue color makes the phone look even more appealing.

The phone has color matched antenna bands that run through the top and bottom. We can see a neatly placed Dual camera module, which does not bulge out of the back, making the device sleek and even. The fingerprint sensor is rear-mounted.

Personally, I prefer On-screen navigation keys instead of capacitive ones. The advantage of On-screen nav bar is the tweaks that you can perform on them. With every new version of Android, the on-screen nav-keys tend to get a cosmetic update which looks really pleasing.

Coming to the other components, we have the USB Type-C port at the bottom, accompanied by the 3.5mm jack. The Sim tray is to the left side and volume rockers with the lock button on the right.

The Honor 8 Pro features a brilliant 5.7 inch 2K (2560 x 1440 pixels) IPS LCD panel. The display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and delivers an excellent experience. The viewing angles on the phone are good with great experience even outdoors. The color reproduction is very good.

Honor 8 Pro

I like the minimal bezels and quick responsiveness of the display. However, using the phone with a single hand may be a little difficult due to the screen size. But overall, the phone is easy to handle.

The Honor 8 Pro has definitely raised the bar for smartphone design. The phone looks stunning from all angles and also has all the necessary connectivity features and much more. The sleek design and the minimal bezels on the sides of the Honor 8 Pro are definitely its main selling points.
