Xiaomi Mi A1 confirmed to get Android Oreo and Android P updates

Google is showing newfound enthusiasm towards Android One after Xiaomi unveiled their Xiaomi Mi A1 today. While the Mi A1 is the latest phone in the Android One program, Google says that Android One smartphones are among best sellers in Japan and Turkey.

In a recent blog post, Google welcomed Xiaomi as a partner in the Android One program. Simply put, Android One are budget devices with a stock Android UI that receives fast updates and services from Google.

Sporting a 5.5-inch Full HD display, the Xiaomi Mi A1 has brought back Android One to India. It has dual 12MP cameras with f/2.2 and f/2.6 aperture lenses and 2x optical zoom at the back. On the front side, you get a 5MP unit for video calls and selfies.

In terms of hardware, you get a Snapdragon 625 Octa-core processor on the Mi A1. This processor is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The phone also offers up to 128GB expandable memory.

Running on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the Xiaomi Mi A1 comes a guaranteed update to Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of this year and it will also be among the first devices to receive Android P update. Powered by a 3,080 mAh battery, the device offers dual SIM 4G VoLTE connectivity. Other options include WiFi, Bluetooth, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
