Asus ZenFone V with 23MP rear camera, Snapdragon 820 listed

Asus has announced a new smartphone exclusive to US carrier Verizon, the ZenFone V. The smartphone has been listed on the company’s US website. The company has not yet revealed the pricing and availability details. The handset comes with the 23MP rear camera and Snapdragon 820. It will be available in Sapphire Black color.

The new phone from Asus is listed as Verizon-exclusive, it is unlikely that the smartphone will come in other markets. Recently, Asus had launched it’s ZenFone 4 Selfie Series in India with the ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro. The phones are exclusively available on Flipkart with starting price of Rs. 9,999.

Coming to the Zenfone V, as per the listing on the website, it sports a 5.2 inch full HD (1080 x 1920) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top. The fingerprint scanner is embedded in the home button and has a 5-finger recognition. The phone runs on the company’s own ZenUI 3.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

It is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. Memory wise, it packs 4GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card up to 256GB.


The camera is one of the highlights of the Asus ZenFone V. It features a 23MP primary sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, laser autofocus with subject tracking, 4-axis OIS, and EIS. It further comes with PixelMaster camera modes like low-light, portrait, and selfie panorama, among other features. On the front, there is an 8MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture, OIS, and EIS.

Connectivity options on the phone include Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi direct, GPS, A-GPS/GLONASS, 4G VoLTE support, USB Type-C, and more. Sensors onboard include an accelerator, ambient light, gyroscope, and proximity sensor, among others. It is packed with a 3,000mAh battery with support for PowerDelivery 2.0 via USB-C. The phone measures 146.5 x 72.6 x 7.6 mm and weighs 147 grams.
