Google announces Android Wear Beta update based on Android 8.0 Oreo

After the gradual rollout of Android 8.0 Oreo, Google is now starting to work on the Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update for Android Wear. Google has mentioned that this is mostly a technical upgrade to API 26. Apart from this, it comes with more refined notifications and background apps control.

Google posted about the Beta update’s features in a blog post. The Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update for Android wear grants you new notification channels control through which you can sort notifications. The second major feature here is the background limits, which means there will be lesser battery usage and more optimization.

Android 8.0 Oreo beta

Android Wear is now becoming a significant part of Google’s Android ecosystem. Bringing most of your phone’s features out in a smartwatch is a great deal and with Android, it is improvising slowly.

Notification channel gives you more control over your notifications rather than muting them and missing on important info. With this update, you will be able to control which activity in a particular app will be notified to you. For example, You can choose to mute ‘likes’ from an app and allow ‘tags’ to be notified.

The second feature of the update is not directly visible to you but will be a good one. Now, your Android Wear will be able to enjoy smoother processing and lesser battery loss as background limits are introduced now. Developers are directly told by Google to assume the apps will not work in the background without notification.

How can you get this update?

Before enrolling in the Beta testing program, we want to tell you that the Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update for Android Wear is only available for the LG Watch Sport.
