Google Pixel 2 comes with 3 years of Android OS updates

Google has officially launched its Pixel 2 line up earlier this week. The new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL flagships come with a lot of premium features and home-grown OS from the company. Now, there is another good news for Pixel 2 buyers. Google has confirmed that both the Pixel 2 phones will get three years of Android software and security updates.

Previously, Google’s first-generation Pixel phones and earlier Nexus phones got only two years of Android software updates. Moreover, security updates are also promised for three years, but it was already being offered with the first Pixels.

Google did not reveal about this new 3 years of software updates change during the launch event. However, it has been confirmed now as it is written clearly in the footnotes of the Pixel 2 listing on Google store. In the ‘Tech Specs’ section its mentioned “Minimum 3 years of OS and security updates”.

This extended OS update from Google for its flagships will prove quite useful for its buyers. Since almost all the Android phones usually get one Android software update before they become obsolete. The three OS updates will for sure make the new Pixel 2 phones a much more attractive option.
