HTC has launched two new smartphones in its U11 series today. Along with the flagship U11+, the company also launched HTC U11 Life which is part of the Google’s Android One program and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. However, there is another version that is launched in the US running Android 7.1 based on HTC’s Sense UI.
The new HTC U11 life is a stripped-down version of company’s flagship U11 that was launched earlier this year. Many of the features of the new U11 Life are similar to original U11. To be mentioned, U11 life also features Edge sense technology which lets you launch apps or perform certain actions, and lacks a 3.5mm audio jack. The company is offering USB Type-C headphones with active noise cancellation.
HTC U11 Life Specifications
The HTC U11 Life features a 5.2 inch Super LCD display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo under Google’s Android One program. However, the phone that is launched in the US comes with HTC’s Sense UI on Android 7.1 Nougat, though it is also scheduled to get Android 8.0 Oreo before November ends.
Coming to the hardware, the HTC U11 Life is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset coupled with Adreno 510 GPU. Memory and storage wise it will come in two variants- 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage globally and 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage in North America. The internal storage is expandable to up to 2TB using a microSD card.
As for the camera, the HTC U11 Life sports a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, BSI sensor, HDR, Pro mode, 4K video recording, and hyperlapse. At the front, there is another 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, BSI sensor, HDR, and 1080p video recording support.
Connectivity options on the HTC U11 Life include Wi-Fi 802.11ac dual-band, NFC, USB C, Bluetooth 5.0, Cat 9 LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling and GPS. The smartphone features a fingerprint sensor on the front. The U11 Life is also IP67 rated for water and dust resistance.
Pricing and Availability
The HTC U11 Life price is at $349 (Rs. 22,560 approx.) for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage model which comes with the Sense UI. The pricing for the Android One model is not yet announced. The Sense UI version will be available on November 3rd in the US exclusively through T-Mobile. There is no information on availability of the Android One model.
