While Samsung has not had the best track record when it comes to Android updates, the company seems to be catching up. Samsung has rolled out a Beta update for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus users in the UK and the USA. However, in order to get this update, your device must fulfil certain criteria.

First, your Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ must be purchased from Sprint or T-Mobile, or at least have a SIM from these carriers in the USA. In the UK, you only need an unlocked device. To get the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update, you will need to set up a Samsung Account and access the ‘Galaxy Beta Program’ via Samsung Members or Samsung+ apps from the Galaxy App Store.

With Android 8.0 Oreo on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, you will get access to features like faster app startup, optimized battery life, PiP mode, Notification badges and much more.

With the beta program rolling out in the US and the UK, we can expect it to come to India soon. Since beta programmes are exposed to crashes and bugs, it is wise on Samsung’s end to roll out in a phased manner. Any major bugs will not be globally spread if a phased update is rolled out.

We will keep you updated when Samsung rolls out the Android 8.0 Oreo beta for the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, and the Galaxy Note 8 in India.
