Xiaomi R1 expected to come with a bezel-less display

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is expected to unveil a full-screen phone, rumoured to be named as the Xiaomi. The device was recently leaked and we can get an idea about the design of the device. The device is aimed at keeping up with the trend of the bezel-less displays.

The Xiaomi R1 is expected to be a bezel-less smartphone from the company. Recently Oppo, Vivo, and now Gionee too have joined the competition with 18:9 aspect ratio displays with minimal bezels. The leaked render from GizChina shows the design of this new smartphone, revealing an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Xiaomi R1

While this is the first leak surrounding the unannounced Xiaomi R1, we can expect much more in the future. The leaked render does not disclose any specifications but clearly shows the design and some basic details about the smartphone.

Looking at the front, you can see a tall display bearing 18:9 aspect ratio. The bezels are still noticeable, especially in the white color. The top bezel is shown with the sensor array along with the front camera setup. Judging by the render, we can safely guess that the phone may sport a selfie-flash, as a result of Xiaomi’s latest approach with the Redmi Y1.

While the front sports minimal bezels, the back does not disclose much about the smartphone. All we can see is the bottom mounted speaker grille with the Mi branding towards the bottom of the back panel. However, there is a possibility of a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The render also shows certain other aspects of the smartphone. You can see the MIUI style lock screen on the Xiaomi R1 which confirms that this will not come with the Android One Program like the Mi A1. Also, a Type-C port can be seen at the bottom of the phone. However, we cannot spot the 3.5mm earphone jack on the bottom so it should be on the top side of the phone.

We can expect the Xiaomi R1 to be priced at 1,499 Yuan, which roughly translates to 14,700. Seeing this price, the Xiaomi R1 looks like a competitive device from Xiaomi.
