How much charge does your phone get in 30 minutes or in an hour? Most of the premium Android phones these days support quick charging via their USB-C adapters but which of the flagship devices do you think is the fastest in term of charging? Recently, it was tested and found that the OnePlus 5T is the fastest smartphone which charges 59% in just 30 minutes.
In a testing done by the US-based publication Tom’s Guide, OnePlus 5T was found to be the fastest charging phone among the top flagship phones. Apart from OnePlus 5T, the flagships they include in the testing were Pixel 2, LG V30, Galaxy Note 8, iPhone 8/8Plus and iPhone X etc.
They tested to find what battery percentage these phones could reach within 30 minutes of charging with their original adapters. However, for the latest iPhones, they used the fast-charging gear which Apple sells separately and it doesn’t come with devices.
OnePlus 5T is the fastest charging device
The OnePlus 5T took lead with an impressive 59 percent charge in 30 minutes. Unlike most other Android flagships, OnePlus doesn’t use Qualcomm’s QuickCharge technology and employs its proprietary Dash Charge. The technology uses dedicated circuitry in the charger itself for heat management and delivers higher amperage than QuickCharge.
The next-best phone was the LG V30, which charged at 53 percent. The iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus followed with 50 percent, 49 percent, and 47 percent, respectively. It is to be mentioned only the fast-charging gear of Apple supports it and with the adapter, they ship with the latest iPhones, it took longer time.
If we talk about other phones, Samsung’s flagships the Galaxy Note 8, S8 and S8+ were all in the same category, at 35 to 38 percent. Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL also had similar results and charged 38%. They tested the same devices for an hour also and the OnePlus 5T once again topped, reaching 93 percent charge. The LG V30 and the latest iPhones again followed and among the Apple devices, the iPhone X had the most charge, at 81 percent in 60 minutes.
iPhones charge faster but with extra gear
If we talk about the latest Apple iPhones, you can get fast charging only if you buy a 29-watt power adapter and a USB-C-to-Lightning cable. It is to be noted that these latest iPhones charge slower than the rest, with their included adapters. For example, the iPhone X reaches only 17 percent after 30 minutes of charging. So, you need to buy extra gear to fast charge the Apple iPhone.
Overall, since charging the phone fast have become a top priority for smartphone users these days, the OnePlus 5T delivers good results with its Dash Charging technology. The phone packs the flagship-level features and solid internals at an affordable price tag of Rs. 32,999.
