OnePlus 5T Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update starts rolling out

Soon after hinting at the Android 8.0 Oreo release for the OnePlus 5T, the company has released the first OxygenOS 5.0 Beta for the device. This means that the latest OnePlus 5T will soon get the Android Oreo update.

The first Open Beta comes soon after the company introduced Face Unlock Assistive Lighting on the phone. The other OnePlus devices, the OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 5 have already been updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. While this is the first Open Beta, we can expect the general rollout soon.

With the update, the official changelog includes features such as Picture-in-Picture mode, and Auto-Fill, which smartly manages your passwords and fills forms for you. The update also comes with smart text selection, which means if you select a phone number, you get the option to directly dial it, along with copying the text.

In the update, there is also the refreshed settings menu and an updated Security Patch for December. These being the system updates, there are certain new additions to the launcher as well. The changelog on the OnePlus forum says that you will get an Optimized app shortcut style, allowing you to combine icon options with app shortcuts.

While all these are good features, the OnePlus 5T Android 8.0 Oreo is still in Open Beta. This means it is prone to crashes and bugs. If you want to get the Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update on your OnePlus 5T, you can download the file.
