Telegram update brings themes, multi account support and more

Popular instant messaging app Telegram has received an update which has brought many new features to the app. The version 4.7 of the app enables support for multiple accounts on Android devices and four different themes and various accent colors on iOS devices. Moreover, it also includes quick replies feature for both Android and iOS devices.

Telegram has announced the latest update on its blog page. The version 4.6 was released last month which introduced features like new granular settings for auto-downloading media, better link previews, albums in Secret Chats and improved security. The new update to v4.7 is available for all Telegram users now.

Multiple accounts

With the multiple account support on the updated Telegram app, you can now add up to three accounts with different phone numbers. You can switch between the accounts from the slide menu to send messages from any particular account.

It is worth noting here that notifications will be shown from all the accounts by default. However, there is an option to change this by going to the Notification settings. So, now,  you don’t need to use different Android devices to operate different accounts on Telegram.

New themes

For iOS devices, the update brings some new themes. iOS users can visit the Appearance settings and then choose between the available four themes, including a minimalistic “Day” and two dark themes – “Night” and “Night Blue”.

The Day theme comes with the ability to let you change its view by picking a suitable accent color for the entire app. This theme support was already available for Android devices.

Quick replies

Telegram has also added support for quick replies similar to WhatsApp. The feature is available for both Android and iOS devices. Now, users will just need to swipe left on any message in a chat to quickly reply to the same with a text, emoji, sticker or GIF.

Telegram v4.7 is available for Android and iOS via Google Play Store and App Store respectively.
