Oppo A83 with face unlock, 5.7-inch 18:9 display launched at Rs. 13,990

Oppo has launched its latest budget smartphone, the Oppo A83 in India today. Featuring a 5.7-inch 18:9 display and Face Unlock feature, the A83 is priced at Rs. 13,990, and it will be available for purchase starting on January 20th via both offline and online channels.

To recall, Oppo had already launched the bezel-less Oppo A83 smartphone last month in China. The Chinese smartphone maker had confirmed last week that the A83 would go on sale from January 20th in India.

Oppo A83 Specifications

The Oppo A83 comes with a 5.7-inch display with thin bezels around it. The screen flaunts an 18:9 aspect ratio with HD+ (1440×720) resolution. It powered by a MediaTek 6763T chipset with 2.5 GHz clock frequency and eight cores for faster processing.

Along with the fast processor, the Oppo A83 features 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. Following the Face unlock trend, Oppo added the Face Unlock feature in the A83. Surprisingly, Oppo decided to not to use the fingerprint sensor as a secondary security feature.

Oppo is claiming that its facial recognition scans 128 points on the user’s face and unlocks the device in 0.18 seconds. The front camera that recognizes the user’s face is an 8MP shooter and has an integrated AI tech called Smart Selfie; Oppo used this tech on the previously released Oppo F5. The rear camera is a 13MP shooter with LED flash.

All the other specifications of the smartphone include the 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, micro USB, and A-GPS. The smartphone is running ColorOS 3.2 which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Oppo used a big 3090 mAh battery to provide better battery backup.

Oppo A83 pricing and availability

The Oppo A83 comes in two color variants; Black and Champagne, it will be available for Rs. 13,990 from January 20th via offline and online retailers.
