MWC 2018: Top smartphones that may launch at the upcoming mobile event

Top smartphone companies of the world are preparing for the biggest mobile technology event of the year – the Mobile World Congress. Every year the tech event which focuses mainly on mobile phones sees the presence of the giant smartphone makers like Samsung, Sony, and LG that showcase their latest smartphones at the platform. The MWC 2018 event will be held from February 26 to March 1 in Barcelona, Spain.

If we recall, Samsung has already announced that it will unveil its new flagship smartphones Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on February 25 during the event. Apart from Samsung, in the MWC 2018, Sony, Nokia, and Xiaomi will also make big announcements. In this post, we will tell you which top smartphones could be launched at MWC 2018.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus

Samsung is the first company that revealed its plans for MWC 2018. Its flagships Galaxy S9/S9+ have been doing the rounds of the rumor mill for quite a long time. If we talk about the features, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ are  expected to come with 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch curved-edge super AMOLED “infinity” displays respectively.

Both the upcoming phones will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor but in India, these phones can be launched with Exynos 9810 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 845. The reports have also revealed that Galaxy S9 + will have 6 GB RAM and dual rear camera, unlike Galaxy S9 which will feature a single camera and 4GB RAM. Both the phones will be running the latest Android Oreo 8.0.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S

Xiaomi will be attending the MWC event for the first time this year. The Chinese smartphone maker is planning to launch the upgraded version of its Mi Mix which will be known as Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. Like the Mi Mix 2, the new phone will also offer bezel-less design, but interestingly it is also supposed to feature the iPhone X-like notch.

The smartphone may come with full glass body to support wireless charging. It is also reported now, that Xiaomi will launch its flagship with the latest Snapdragon 845 processor. The Mi Mix 2S might come with a 128GB/6GB variant. In earlier reports, it was also said that the company could launch its flagship M7 at the MWC but it seems unlikely now as per the recent report.

Sony Xperia XZ Pro

At the MWC 2018, Sony might present its Xperia XZ Pro smartphone. The smartphone is supposed to come with a full-screen 5.7-inch OLED display with a 4K resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9 which could be the first from the company. Based on the leaked renders by Phone Corridor, the Xperia XZ Pro will sport dual rear cameras.

Another report claims that the upcoming Sony smartphone may be unveiled with Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone is believed to pack a 3,420mAh battery. Since it will be premium flagship from Sony, so it might be launched at around Rs. 60,000.

Motorola

Lenovo-owned company Motorola might launch its Moto G6 and G6 Plus smartphones at the event. The Moto phones have already been leaked in some renders. Motorola has added a 3D glass panel at the back to redesign its G series.

The Moto G6 will be featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset under the hood with 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB internal storage. It is expected to come with a 5.7-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will sport a dual camera setup with 12MP and 5MP sensors.

Moto G6 Plus

The Moto G6 Plus is the “Plus” variant of the G series and comes with a bigger 5.93-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will also sport a similar dual camera setup at the back consisting of 12MP and 5MP sensors. However, it will come with a Snapdragon 630 clubbed with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

Nokia 9

It is believed that the HMD Global will mark the biggest presence with its Nokia smartphones in MWC 2018. According to reports, Nokia might launch at least four smartphones at the event. The first-in-line could be the flagship Nokia 9. The phone has been leaked many times recently and is tipped to sport a quad-HD resolution display with 16:9 aspect ratio.

Talking about the cameras, the cover leaked by some websites reveal that there will be a dual camera setup at the back of the phone. The Nokia 9 is expected to come with a Snapdragon 835 processor and not the latest Snapdragon 845. For memory, it is expected to pack 6GB RAM.

Recently, Nokia 7 Plus was seen on the Benchmarking website. It is powered by Snapdragon 660 chipset. The mid-range smartphone could also see daylight at MWC event. Apart from this, a phone was also revealed by Nokia phone’s camera APK last month, named as Nokia 4 which could also be launched. There are also reports that Nokia 1 smartphone may also be unveiled at the MWC. It can be a new budget smartphone that will feature Android Go edition of Oreo.

Huawei P20 and P20 Plus

Huawei might unveil newer smartphones to its P series. According to the latest reports, Huawei smartphones that will be unveiled at MWC 2018 will be P20 and P20 Plus. The phones have been leaked earlier and their specs are known to us.

As per reports, the P20 series phones will feature triple rear cameras for a whopping 40MP shots. The P20 could sport 5.5 to 5.7-inch FHD+ display, while the Huawei P20 Plus might come with 6-inch FHD+ display. The phones will be powered by the latest AI-enabled Kirin 970 chipset.

Apart from above-mentioned phones, we might also see the presence of other smartphone makers as well. LG might unveil its latest announced flagship LG G7 at the MWC 2018. BlackBerry might also make a comeback at the MWC event.
