Honor Holly 4 review: still a good option in the budget segment

The Honor Holly 4 smartphone was launched in October 2017 as an upgrade to its predecessor, the Honor Holly 3. The device comes with significant improvements and stands out in the budget phone segment in India. The device comes a metallic design finish with a sophisticated sandblasting process. The device’s multi-function fingerprint sensor is one of the key features of the device.

Apart from its design, the Honor Holly 4 comes with some best-in-class features in the segment. It sports a 13MP primary camera, is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and it runs on EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The Honor Holly 4 is priced at Rs. 10,750 and is available from offline as well as online stores.

Physical Overview

The main highlight of the phone is its design. The Honor Holly 4 sports a metal chassis enhanced with soft sandblasting on the back which is comfortable and smooth while holding. Its rounded edges sit perfectly in your hand and it measures 143.7 x 70.95 x 8.2 mm and weighs just 144 grams. The phone is sleek and lightweight as well which makes its design perfect.

Another good thing about the Honor Holly 4’s design is its fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor has been placed behind the rear camera and it unlocks the device in just 0.5 seconds. Moreover, it is a smart multi-function fingerprint sensor that can also be used to take photos or videos, answer phone calls, stop alarms, browse photos, and more.

The Honor Holly 4 sports a 5-inch HD display (1280 x 720 pixels). The HD display provides clear, sharp pictures and it looks good from all viewing angles. It also has an eye comfort mode that eases eye fatigue by automatically adjusting screen brightness and reducing blue light emission.


In the camera department, the Honor Holly 4 comes with a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus technology, which focuses quickly in just 0.5 seconds. It has a 5-element lens that captures colors very impressively and it comes with some unique camera modes like Time-lapse, slow motion, Pro Video, and Pro picture.

The Honor Holly 4 is powered by a 1.1GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of internal storage with support for expansion up to 128GB via microSD card. The RAM and octa-core processor are sufficient for day to day usage.

The phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 skin which offers a good UI experience. It features an elegant visual design inspired by the blues and white colors of the Sea. Overall, software performance is also at par and users will not face any lag or any other issues while running apps.

Battery and Connectivity

The Honor Holly 4 comes with a 3020mAh battery. The battery offers 28 hours of 2G talk time, 12 hours of HD video playback time, 10 hours of 4G browsing or 57 hours of music playback, according to the company. It also comes with a new power-saving technology.

The Honor Holly 4 is a dual SIM phone that supports nano-SIM cards. Connectivity options on the device include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, 3G and 4G VoLTE. The device comes with various sensors including Compass, Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor.


The Honor Holly 4, despite being launched a few months back, still comes out as a good option in the budget segment. The metallic slim body, the good battery life, decent RAM and a powerful octa-core processor make Holly 4 a complete package in its price point. The Honor Holly 4 is priced at Rs. 10,750 now.
