Google launches #SecurityCheckKiya initiative in India

Google India has announced a new public initiative called #SecurityCheckKiya to create awareness about internet security. This initiative is to help protect the first time internet users from account hijacking and keeping Android devices safe from malicious apps.

Google said in a statement that Indian users who are experiencing the web for the first time and not aware of the bad sectors of the internet are vulnerable to web abuse.

Sunita Mohanty, Trust, and Safety Director said about the initiative,

“Just like in the physical world, users in India should take precautions while engaging with the online world. While security is built into all of Google services, keeping the web safe for everyone is a shared responsibility.”

Google #SecurityCheckKiya

Google is going to make this information available on its Indian homepage www.google.co.in to encourage all the users to do the Security Check. Google is also doing all this to protect people on the Safer Internet Day which is tomorrow, February 6, 2018.

“Through our initiative, we want to nudge Internet users to take action to safeguard themselves, because the first step to a safer Internet starts with them. We are asking users to get started on their journey by securing their data and devices by asking them #SecurityCheckKiya”, Sunita Mohanty added to her statement.

Users can check their security options and Google account activity with one click on Google Security. This will automatically scan the account for any vulnerability and then guide the user to keep the account safe. Google Play Protect is another service which is to keep the Android devices safe from malicious apps. The Play Protect service also helps to secure all personal data even if the device is lost – the Find My Device app can locate the device and also wipe the data remotely.
