Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red vs. regular Mi A1: Red is in

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is aggressively expanding in India and they have recently introduced a Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red color. While it is the same phone as launched before, the color gives it a whole new look, making it one of the best looking Xiaomi smartphones so far. Some may even find it to be the best Xiaomi smartphone so far.

Launched last year, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is an Android One smartphone from the company. With the Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red color, we get the more premium look on the same phone. So here, we compare the physical overview of the regular Mi A1 and the Special Edition Red Mi A1.

Physical comparison

Starting with the regular Xiaomi Mi A1, the phone is sporting a premium metal build which feels good in the hand. The Special Edition phone is also the same metal, but the red color and finish add a premium look and feel to the phone.

At the front, while the regular device looks good, the Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red color features black bezels, which look sleek and the backlit capacitive buttons are also more clearly visible. The overall frontal look of the phone looks much more premium in the black finish.

Coming to the back of the device, we again incline towards the Special Edition Red color. While the regular phone is also premium, the Red edition gets a more plush feel to it. Also, there is a difference in the way both phones are branded. The Red edition is minimally branded with an added line that says ‘Designed by Xiaomi’.

Talking about the sides now, the Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red color gets the same red buttons as the body. However, it misses out on a textured lock button which we missed on the regular Mi A1 too.

Xiaomi Mi A1 Performance

There is no difference in the regular Xiaomi Mi A1 and the Special Edition Red color in terms of specifications. However, the device runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. Here are the benchmarks we got on the device.

Conclusion

Xiaomi has a range of options of smartphone buyers, spread across different price ranges. However, if you are looking for a value for money option and a great looking smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red color can be a great choice. Tis the season of love, after all.
