Honor 8 Pro starts receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update in India

Honor had confirmed the list of smartphones which will be getting the EMUI 8.0 update based on Android 8.0 Oreo, and Honor 8 Pro was one of the devices on the list. As promised, the EMUI 8.0 update had started rolling out for the Honor 8 Pro and the Honor 9 smartphones in the UK last week. The update is now rolling out for the Indian Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 users as well.

The Honor 8 Pro EMUI 8.0 update is based on Android 8.0 Oreo and the update is 2.81GB in size. The update also includes the latest security patch of January 2018. This update also comes with 4G VoLTE calls support for Vodafone and Reliance Jio.

  • VoLTE calls now enabled for Jio and Vodafone
  • The user interface has been updated a lot with new home screen shortcuts and shortcut menu on the icons.
  • New Navigation dock feature added to the OS which can be enabled from Settings > Smart Assistance > System Navigation > Navigation Dock. You can drag the notification dock anywhere on the screen.
  • App shortcut menu has been added with support for many apps including PlayStore, Settings, Gallery, Themes and many more.
  • Honor added some AI based improvements which provide stability and speed. The smartphone now boots quicker and thumbnails load faster than before.
  • Contacts and Email now lets user sync the career details from Linkedin contacts.
  • Settings app has been redesigned for a smoother experience.
  • Gallery comes with a recycle bin feature which keeps the deleted pictures for 30 days.
  • Google Security patch January 2018 has been added with this update.
