The company has revoked the update for its flagships citing the unexpected reboot issue. Now the update has finally resumed in Germany as of now and it’s only a matter of time before the update starts rolling out in other markets where it had previously been released.
Samsung has released the Android 8.0 Oreo update for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ earlier this month. However, due to some unexpected reboot issues faced by some users, the rollout was halted merely a week after it was released. Now, Samsung has worked on a new version, probably one that won’t cause the phone to reboot.
The new firmware update file weighs in just over 530MB for those who are already on Android 8.0 Oreo on the Galaxy S8/S8+. While the file size will be considerably larger for those who haven’t yet updated to Oreo. The latest Oreo update for Galaxy S8 also brings February security patch along with new Experience UI 9.0 based on Oreo.
Further, the Android Oreo update brings a lot of new features to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ along with the newer version of the Samsung Experience UX 9.0. You can see some major changes and new features including the notification channel, dual messenger, and improved performance.
The latest Android Oreo update for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ is currently rolling out for users in Germany via over-the-air and soon it will go live in other markets as well. The Galaxy S8 users in Germany can now download the latest update manually by heading to Settings » Software update.
