Sony Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact leaked with 18:9 display, Snapdragon 845

The MWC 2018 kick-starts this Monday and details of the smartphones that could be launched at the event are getting leaked with every passing day. Now, Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact have been leaked ahead of their official announcement at the MWC 2018 event. The press images of the upcoming Sony flagships reveal the smartphones briefly.

Notably, the design of Sony flagships has been revealed, thanks to the sources of the leakster Evan Blass. So, as can be seen in the images, Sony has finally changed its design and for the first time, they are giving up the chunky top and bottom bezels on the Xperia XZ line-up and the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will come with an 18:9 aspect ratio display.

Sony Xperia XZ2 Specifications

When it comes to specs, earlier leaks have revealed most of these phones specifications. The Xperia XZ2 will sport a 5.7-inch display while the XZ2 Compact will have a smaller 5-inch FHD+ 18:9 display. Both the phones will sport 3D glass on both sides. The phones will come with an aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The glossy back finish comes in four different colors including black, silver, green, and pink.

Both the Xperia XZ2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC and run Android 8.0 Oreo with Sony’s custom skin on top. In terms of camera, there is a 19MP rear camera with f/1.8. It can record 4K HDR and super-slow-motion capture in Full HD resolution. However, the camera layout is slightly different on the XZ2 Compact.


The fingerprint sensor is shifted to rear just like the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra. Further, there are front-firing stereo speakers on XZ2. The Xperia XZ2 will house a 3180mAh battery with wireless charging support, while XZ2 Compact has a smaller, 2870mAh battery.
