Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro MIUI 9 Beta starting soon

Just like other Xiaomi smartphone, the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro which were released recently in India also come with the company’s custom skin MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. But as most of the smartphones already coming with the Android 8.0 Oreo OS preinstalled, Xiaomi is also working on the next update for the device.

Xiaomi is working on the Android 8.0 Oreo-based MIUI Global Beta ROM for the Xiaomi Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro. It has been confirmed by a conversation on Twitter and Jai Mani, Lead Product Manager, Xiaomi, has revealed the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro will be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo in future.

Although there is not much information in the tweet, but the ROM is under development is confirmed. The timeline also hasn’t been confirmed about the beta ROM. But before the final release, there will be a beta testing for the devices. Anyone who owns one of these devices can apply for the beta testing of the ROM. The testers have to either manually flash the ROM via Fastboot flash or the updater app.

The users also need to download the install the QQ instant messenger to report about the bugs and discuss more about the beta features. If you follow the MIUI forum and you are an active member then there is a high chance of yours to get selected as a beta tester.
