Coolpad phones to now come preloaded with Amazon Alexa: Company announces at #MWC2018

Smartphone maker Coolpad has announced at the #MWC2018 that some of their current devices and their upcoming lineup will soon support Amazon Alexa voice assistant. Under the #GTUMWC2018 coverage, we bring to you the complete details of the happening.

Amazon Alexa is gaining ground in India with the company slowly spreading their Prime options in the country, it would be good to see Alexa integration on Coolpad devices. The current Coolpad Cool Play 6, Note5, and Note 5 Lite are some of the devices that will get Alexa support.

Announced at the Mobile World Congress today, Coolpad is integrating Alexa voice assistant into their upcoming smartphones. Through this integration, users will be able to performs tasks like asking weather, news, set reminders, alarms, play music and shop from Amazon India using voice commands.

Currently, the company’s latest offering the Coolpad Cool Play 6, the Note 5, and the Note 5 Lite will get Amazon Alexa integration via an OTA update. Also, the upcoming phones from the company will come with Alexa pre-installed on them. The company is also entering the smart wearables and tracking devices business in partnership with Qualcomm.


Already running Google Assistant, the integration of Amazon Alexa is expected to add more AI and machine learning capabilities to the phones. With Alexa, you can shop from Amazon India or make use of your Prime membership to play songs directly through the Amazon Prime Music app. You can download the Amazon Prime music app for Android as well as iOS devices.

Syed Tajuddin, CEO, Coolpad India said in a statement to the media, “We are working to immerse more AI and tech into smartphones to make the experience more intelligent, friendly, and beneficial for the customers. Incorporating Alexa in Coolpad smartphones is one such step in that direction.”
