WhatsApp beta for Android gets lock voice recording feature: Here’s how to use

WhatsApp beta for Android has received a new feature that brings the ability to lock recording of voice messages. The feature was already available on WhatsApp for iPhone and now it is heading towards Android starting with beta version first and soon to be rolled out for all Android users.

The latest feature which allows locking voice message recording was also reportedly tested internally last year on WhatsApp beta for Android. The feature is designed to let users conveniently record long voice messages without holding the record button down the entire time. It is also reported by WABetaInfo that WhatsApp is working to add an option to play voice messages before sending them to the receiver.

How to lock voice recording on WhatsApp

To lock recording of your voice messages, tap and hold the mic icon like you do for 0.5 seconds. Now, slide up your finger toward the lock button that will appear immediately. The voice recording once locked can easily be sent just by tapping the Send button and you don’t need to keep on holding the mic button.

Furthermore, you can anytime tap the Cancel button, available next to the timer, to delete your voice recording. This process simply eliminates the process to hold down the mic button for as long as you’re recording your voice message.

The feature is currently available for Android Beta version 2.18.102. If you want to experience the lock recording feature on your Android, you need to download the WhatsApp beta for Android. It is available for beta testers on Google Play. Alternatively, you can visit APK Mirror to download its APK file and install the same on your device.

WABetaInfo also reports that in the next release, WhatsApp for Android will also get the option to listen to your voice message before sending it. Moreover, WhatsApp will also get a feature to show the size of specific sticker packs before downloading them in the same update.
