Reliance Jio 4G laptops could be a reality, talks on with Qualcomm

Reliance Jio took over the feature phone market in India by releasing the JioPhone last year with the 4G VoLTE connectivity. Now, the company is working to take over the budget laptop segment too by making a 4G-enabled laptop running Windows 10. If this is true then we might see a big storm coming in the budget laptops segment in the Indian market.

The report comes from ET Telecom stating that Reliance Jio is working with the US-based Chipmaker Qualcomm to launch its 4G laptops. The companies are already in talks to launch a new 4G feature phone.

If Qualcomm is making these laptops to launch it in the Indian market then it will take a long time to make laptops featuring 4G connectivity from Reliance Jio. This is not the first time these rumors have surfaced on the internet about 4G laptops from Reliance Jio, so it’s important to take this report with a grain of salt.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset is powerful enough to power laptops with 64-bit architecture applications like Adobe Photoshop and other. Some laptop manufacturers like Asus, HP, and Lenovo already working to bring Snapdragon 835-powered laptops to the market.


Apart from the 4G LTE connectivity, the Snapdragon 835 chipset will also provide an increased battery life to the laptops. It is said that the laptops powering this chipset will last for about 20 hours and it will take a few seconds to wake from sleep mode. Also, it will provide extended privacy and security on public Wi-Fi hotspots, amongst other things.
