Facebook dating feature announced, here’s how it works

Facebook is going to add a new feature to its social network for people to date with non-friends. This feature will let people create a dating profile on the platform. The user will be able to discover other users interests through their profile just like in any other dating app or service.

The Facebook dating feature was announced by Facebook at the F8 conference.

Here are some steps which will help you to create a dating profile on Facebook:

  1. First, you have to opt for the Facebook dating service with your name, it won’t be visible to your friends or anyone else who does not have dating profile on Facebook. It also won’t be posted on your timeline or news feed.
  2. You will be able to browse events in the city and groups which matches your interests. These interests can be unlocked and after then, you’ll be able to see the profiles of the users who also unlocked that event.
  3. Now, you can browse through the profiles of people who have created a dating profile by sharing few photos and basic information about them. You’ll also get suggestions based on mutual interests and friends.
  4. If both of the people with mutual interests are interested in conversation, you will be able to chat with each other in a special chat box and only text message can be sent for now.

We still have to see if Facebook is able to create a barricade between the social network and the dating part of the website. Currently, we do not know if Facebook will create a separate app for this feature or dating will be integrated in the current app.
